Procedure
Today we learned about Procedure or Instructions that tell us how something is accomplished.
Purpose
The purpose is to tell the reader how to do or make something. The information is presented in a logical sequence.These texts are usually written in the present tense.
Types of procedural Texts
- How to use instruction/operation manuals.
- How to do a particular activity.
- Deal with human behavior.
Text organisation
Goal :(often indicated in the main heading and/ or diagram)
Materials : (listed in order of use)
Method : (steps oriented towards achieving the goal)

Then teacher assigned us to do exercise 1,match each sentence with the correct picture and put all sentences in the correct order.
- Crack the eggs into a mixing bowl with a pinch of salt and pepper
- Beat well with a fork
- Place a small frying pan on a low heat and let it get hot,add a small knob of butter
- When the better has melted and is bubbling,add your eggs and move the pan around to spread them out evenly.
- When the omelette begins to cook and firm up, but still has a little raw egg on top, sprinkle over the cheese Cheddar,if using
- Ease around the edges of the omelette with a spatula.
- Then fold it in half.
- When it start to turn golden brown underneath, remove the pan from the heat
- finally,slide the omelette on to a plate.
Than,teacher assigned us to do exercise 2 read the recipe and answer the questions before take a break about 10 minutes.
The exercise about how to make "Chicken soup"
Questions
1. What is the purpose of the text?Ans To tell the reader how to make Chicken soup.
2.What do we do after adding onion,carrot,celery and potato?Ans Stirring for 5 minutes.
3.How long do we cook chicken and pasta?Ans about 8-10 minutes.
4.What is served with the chicken soup?Ans Wholegrain toast.
Than,teacher assigned us to take a break about 10 minutes.
Next,we did exercise 3 read the text about hoe to use a toaster and answer the questions.
We took a long time to do this exercise because the text is very long and have many rules of to use a toaster.
What are your attitudes with this the lesson?
Exercise 1 and 2 were easier than exercise 3, it was easy to understand clearly but exercise 3 was hard because the text is very long. When we answered the questions, it made me crazy because I had to take a long time to do this exercise,we had to find what line the answer is.
In my opinion I think I can understand this the lesson more than all the lesson that I learn this term. It's easy in real life, the most common example of procedure text is a recipe, that make me understand because the instruction is clear and easy to understand.
